Gallery History
The Gallery at 652 Canyon Road was originally known as Thirteen Moons Gallery, founded in 1999 by Mary Anhaltzer to promote the work of contemporary quilters.
In 2005 Jane Sauer, who was both an artist represented by and employee of the gallery, assumed ownership and transformed the gallery into the widely known and well-respected Canyon Road institution: Jane Sauer Gallery.
Jane herself is known nationally for her own work as an innovative studio artist. Artists, collectors, galleries, museums and curators alike continue to seek her advice and admire her continuous activism in promotion of the arts. Her artistic eye was particularly evident in her gallery’s program – the accumulated result of a rigorous selection process and unwavering dedication to quality.
Jane sold her Gallery on July 1, 2013 to Mike and Jennifer Tansey in order to be able to spend more time with her family as a grandmother. The Tanseys were attracted to the gallery specifically because of the diversity and quality inherent within the program and remain committed to carrying on the tradition of quality and promotion of the arts so well established by Jane.
