- In keeping with the middle-school philosophy, students are placed in teams. Core subjects are taught with a combination of traditional and interdisciplinary approaches.
- Capshaw offers a variety of exploratory Liberal Arts classes which include the following: Art, Drama, Chorus, Band, Advanced Band, Orchestra, Spanish, and Family and Consumer Sciences.
- Students are offered Advanced English and math classes at both grade levels. Students are required to complete an application and submit a writing sample as part of the process for placement into advanced English. Eighth grade students may also test into Algebra 1. Classes for ELL students and Native Spanish Speakers are available. Individualized programming for students with disabilities and gifted students is offered.
